Hunt # 48 - Coahuila Carmen Mountain Whitetail Deer

This is a very special hunt for a little known species of whitetail called the Carmen Mountain Deer. These deer have similar characteristics to their Coues Deer cousins but remain distinctly different.  This is one of the premiere ranches in Mexico offering Carmens. The ranch is 35,000 acres and is family owned and operated primarily as a cattle ranch. The buck to doe ratio on this ranch is 1.5 bucks to 1 doe, with a strong population of deer overall. Hunts are five days in duration. Clients fly to Del Rio, Texas where the outfitter will meet them. Clients have the option of taking a 45 minute charter flight to the ranch or can drive approximately 7 hours by road. There is also an air charter charged per hour which can be split among the clients as another option.

This is a great opportunity to hunt a very unique deer in a beautiful setting. The ranch harbors a large population of black bears that are not hunted. Prime hunting dates are in December and January. Clearly, this species of deer deserves its own record book listing and hopefully will have one in the near future. This hunt is an affordable way to travel abroad and enjoy a unique experience many avid hunters do not know exists.

We had a great hunt with this outfitter. This ranch is a hidden gem in Old Mexico where wildlife literally abounds.
